Under general supervision of the Executive Director, the Associate Director of eLearning Design ensures that assigned online and hybrid degrees, certificates and courses are designed with focus on student success using the most effective pedagogical strategies, innovative and appropriate educational technologies, and instructional design attuned to the educational level and purpose of the specific course/program.
The position is responsible for the development of online and hybrid degree, for-credit certificate programs, and specialized advanced professional development programs at PSU; manages a team of instructional design professionals, course builders and multimedia developers; works closely with the Executive Director to frame the project, collaborates with the OAI Project Manager to plan and coordinate project activities, and assumes lead responsibilities working with faculty and college program staff to develop the program; develops and conducts research to inform practice of instructional design in online learning utilizing effective research methods for ongoing assessment to improve student learning experiences, educational technologies, and other learning solutions; develops strong and supportive working relationships with the design team, faculty members, and the assigned academic lead to ensure collaboration, exceptional instructional strategies and course design, and student achievement; responsible for the ongoing professional development of staff members; works closely with other leads and with the Executive Director to ensure collaboration within the unit, idea sharing, and shifts in focus and work to meet changing demands.
